Kindergarten 2010/11

Our first year of Kindergarten was a collection of things that were perfect for us.  We used the curriculum offered at Wee Folk Art as our starting point, (Harvest Time, Winter Wonderland, and Spring Bs) adding and changing where necessary.

Reading, writing
Explode the Code books A, B, C1 and a little bit of 2
D'nealian Handwriting Kindergarten practice and review workbook
BOB books (Ava really seems to loath these, but we did use them some, and I'll probably use them again with the boys)

Our Schedule/Rhythm..

We set up our day to follow a Waldorf-esque rhythm.  I like the idea of following the breath in, breath out pattern.
Our year was September to June.  We had time off through out the year for family occasions, and holidays.  We took off the entire month of December, and a week for Spring break.  We broke the school year into three trimesters of 12 weeks.
I wrote about the rhythm of our day here.

I wrote about the rhythm of our week here.
Each week, in each trimester, had a theme. The theme was explored with corresponding non fiction and picture books, poetry, baking, crafting, and field trips.
